ST. PAUL’S WOMEN’S GROUP WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF A GROUP OF DEDICATED WOMEN who are gathering together to plan social and spiritual activities for the women of the parish? Mission Statement: To provide a fellowship for the women of St. Paul’s Catholic Church through activities that bond together personal, parish and community spirituality. In the past year, we hosted a luncheon for the ecumenical service during Lent and the welcoming coffee for Fr. McDonald. We had speakers on gardening and the Cherokee Native Americans in this area. We visited a plantation and contributed time to Hospice of the Foothills. In November we hosted a dinner for college students and in the spring we had a picnic on a sheep farm. Our activities are varied and we welcome new ideas. Funeral receptions. LUNCHEON VOLUNTEERS are still needed. We are trying to get enough parishioners to volunteer, so that you would only get called upon every third or fourth funeral. Because we have so many parishioners who travel or have other plans, it’s hard to find enough people who can work on short notice. We welcome both male and female volunteers. We serve only finger foods, so it’s not hard to donate food. Our menu consists of finger sandwiches, fresh veggies and fruit, bars and cookies and cheese and crackers. Please call Susan Gordon at 653-3613. Thank you for volunteering to be a part of the Funeral Ministry in our parish.
Our Daily Bread, the local soup kitchen in Seneca, could use some additional volunteers. Your commitment can be flexible to fit your schedule. All it takes is about three hours. Good cooking skills are not required - only a good heart. Call Charleah McMillan 653-8995, if you can help.
Food donations at St. Paul’s – Your donations for the Golden Corner Food Bank may be brought in weekly - look for the container around the corner to the left in the Gathering Space. Many thanks for your generosity in these times of factory closings and job losses. The food baskets for the Seneca Food Bank are usually hidden around the left corner of the Gathering Space. This does NOT mean we do not need food; we desperately need food! We can use cereal, peanut butter and baby food. There are many young people losing their jobs and they need help. PLEASE bring in food donations with you next weekend. There are shopping bags at St. Francis and St. Paul’s with a list of food the bank would like. Take the bag shopping with you, fill it with listed items and return the bags next week. Many, many thanks to all the faithful donors who contribute food week after week. Keep it up - the need is there.
On a Musical note.. A Very Special "THANK YOU" to Mary Steffes for her three years of leadership as choir director and church accompanist of St. Paul's. Her musical knowledge and skills have been a great gift to our community. Mary is now "retiring" to pursue traveling and other interests; however, show will remain in our midst as an active parishioner. We wish you well Mary, and wherever you roam may you keep "A Song In Your Heart!"
Volunteers are desperately needed! St. Paul’s office is staffed by volunteers Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Because many volunteers have moved away or resigned for personal reasons, there is a need for new people. 3 hours per month!!! 9 a.m. to noon!!! There are well over 500 families registered at St. Paul’s - surely we can find men or women with 3 hours a month on their hands. If you are willing to serve, please call Alice at 944-1026 and if the line is busy, keep trying. We expect hundreds (o.k. maybe 10 or 12) to take up the gauntlet. If interested, call Armand Ouellette at 885-1908.
