ST. FRANCIS QUILTING CLUB meets on the 3rd Wed. of each month at St. Francis Hall in Walhalla. The Community Quilters gave 20 baby and youth-size quilts to “Warm a Child for the Winter”. The quilts will be given to infants and to children up to 6 years old. They will be divided among Oconee A.I.D., We Care Ministries, Oconee Crisis Center and Bethesda Ministries. Our group of quilters were formerly called the “Katrina Quilters”, but since we gave over 150 quilts to the Katrina Victims, it was decided that we will quilt for anyone in the community that has a need. We will start meeting again on the third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 AM in Tierney Hall. All fabrics and threads are furnished. We need sewers (bring your own sewing machine), cutters and helpers to put colors and patterns together, people to iron, anyone!!! We do have a good time and the quilters’ fellowship is wonderful. Get in touch with Jenny Grobusky at 882-8290 if you would like to join us.

St. Francis, don’t forget to bring food donations for the Golden Corner Food Bank.

There are shopping bags at St. Francis and St. Paul’s with a list of food the bank would like. Take the bag shopping with you, fill it with listed items and return the bags next week. Many, many thanks to all the faithful donors who contribute food week after week. Keep it up - the need is there.

St. Francis Altar Society

The Altar Society meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, September - April at 11:00 a.m. in Tierney Hall.  Lunch is served, with a short meeting afterwards.  Everyone is welcome.

The St. Francis Altar Society sponsors an on-going project at St. Francis, St. Paul's and St. Andrew's throughout the year.
    1. Postage stamps, which support the Franciscan Missions. Please, NO postage meter labels!
        Lick or stick-on stamps only.
The cut out stamp is a fundraiser as collectors buy them and
search for something to add to their own collections.

In the past we have been collecting Betty Crocker coupons for the Franciscan nuns. We are informed that they are only collecting educational coupons from Betty Crocker and will no longer be collecting anything else.

Mickey Hanson and/or Maxine Koll picks up these stamps and labels at St. Paul's, and Phyllis Schueren does it at St. Andrew's.

Here at St. Francis, these items can be turned in to a box kept in the back hall labeled "Margaret's Box."  Or just leave them in the sacristy.

Contact Margaret Sitterlet at St. Francis, Phyllis Schueren at St. Andrew's, or Mickey Hanson at St. Paul's with all inquires.

We also need gifts for bingo prizes at the Lila Doyle Nursing Home. Jewelry, beads and pins, stuffed animals, dolls and lap robes always bring a smile to the winner. Call Margaret Sitterlet 944-2624, Mickey Hanson or Maxine Koll 638-2096 with questions.

Sr. Joan Kobe’s Bible Study is conducted every Thursday from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.  The regular attendees welcome newcomers from any parish to share this informative and enjoyable discussion. It will be the shortest 90 minutes you’ll ever experience!

Volunteers are needed for a program that teaches English and Civics to the Hispanic community (many of whom are parishioners). We meet at James M. Brown Elementary School in Walhalla and need help with tutoring, arranging speakers, and involving the community. No experience is necessary, but a sense of humor definitely helps. It you would like to know more, please call Veronica Main at 653-5048.

A great big “thank you” to all those who volunteer of their time and energy to help out at Lila Doyle. You are special people and your efforts are greatly appreciated. Also, thanks to those who donate prizes. These things are needed and necessary and also are greatly appreciated.

Parishioners unaware that Communion for the sick, infirm, elderly or temporarily at home, please note that there are Eucharistic Ministers available to bring Communion to your home. All you have to do is call the office in Clemson (864-654-1757) and ask!
