                       BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP normally meets at St. Paul's on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. (i.e., following the 9:30 a.m. Mass.) The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in the library, now in Papineau Hall.

“GRIEF IS NOT A PROBLEM TO BE CURED, IT IS SIMPLY A STATEMENT THAT YOU HAVE LOVED SOMEONE”

The loss of a loved one is the single most stressful thing that can happen to a person. This is a time to be aware of increased vulnerability and the need to take great care of yourself. Because of this increased stress and vulnerability, health problems appear more often during a bereavement period.
By taking care of ourselves and practicing “stress management”, we can decrease the physical and emotional wear and tear that stress can cause. There are five components of stress management: Good Nutrition; Sleep; Physical Exercise; Being Kind to Yourself; and Relaxation.
The greatest healer and stress reducer will be the love of those around you. Allow them the privilege of helping you through this. Spend time alone with God or in quiet contemplation. Your anger, fears, and needs will all be welcome.

The Bereavement Support Group offers compassion and understanding to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Our meetings, held monthly, provide permission as well as an opportunity to grieve with others who share in this painful process. We invite you to consider the Parish support group as a resource while living through the pain of your loss. Our self-help group meets to extend our hearts and hands in this time of sorrow. Comfort and consolation in the healing presence of God and each other, are our goals.

For further information, call Carol Fluder, Group Facilitator, at 972-0522.
